7/4/2010 I apologize for the late update. I had a little mishap the first of June that put us a bit  behind. I bent over to pick up a pen and my back went out. It's heck to get old. Our office is coming along nicely, our second phone line for our computer and fax will be hooked up soon, and we will be painting this week.    Mazon is a very friendly  little community that we are proud to be a part of  and happy to be working with. Our first Mazon cat that needed our help found us while we were moving in. He became our first office cat, we named him Benson as we found him screaming in front of Benson Insurance. We had him neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated and tested right away, he spent his first two weeks with us in our window talking to everyone that went by. He had quite a story to tell, we just didn't quite know what it was he was saying. His owner never showed up though, so  then he went to Petsmart where he has since been adopted to a great indoor home.

In addition to setting up a licensed foster home program through the Illinois Department of Agriculture, we will also have an 'adopt our office cat' program at our office in Mazon. If you have a business or office where it is a safe, allowable, indoor environment to house a cat for adoption let us know we would love to include  you in our program.

We do have a few leads on a new home however at this time that is all they are. As soon as we know something definite we will post it. Our cat adoptions are doing great at Petsmarts in Yorkville and Oswego so if you're looking for a new addition please visit these stores. We have many wonderful cats and kittens looking for their forever homes.

Our Wellness clinics are busier than ever expected. We had our first trip to Dixon in June , the demand was so great we had to go back the following day to take care of so many pets in need. We keep hearing the same stories over and over in each community we visit. With the poor economy these people have just fallen behind in vet care as there are so many other things that must come first such as rent, house payments, or groceries. Also many of these pets are seeing a vet for the very first time and they have been with their families for many years.

Have a Great month of July and remember DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS IN THE CAR UNATTENDED ON WARM DAYS! Even with the windows cracked it  only takes minutes for them to overheat and suffer serious brain damage or even death.

5/12/10 Words cannot express the gratitude I have for all of the people who have stepped up to help us during our recent ordeal. To all the board members, volunteers, friends, families and foster homes , we are such a great group because of you. The hard work, care and compassion  that you have for our shelter and the animals we encounter  is truly the heart of Just Animals. You define us and make us who we are .I have to send out a huge thank you to Roy Gregory and staff  with  WCCQ  for coming out to our little shelter and promoting our cause you helped us to find homes for many hard to place dogs and really got our story out there bringing in many donations for our future home. Thank you to Denise Unland  of the Herald News for the nice article and thank you to all the media that has been covering our story.  I cannot thank Dr. Dave  and his staff at  Morris Veterinary Hospital enough for all of your support,  boarding our dogs on such short notice and always taking such excellent care of our critters. Thank you to all the Rescues and Shelters who have been there for support and encouragement. Thank you to everyone who has sent in a donation,  said a prayer for us, given us words of encouragement or kept us in your thoughts.

Please be patient with us as we take the next few weeks to clean up the mess we created in our move and begin to restructure ourselves as well as our business. We plan to have our foster home program up and running by the end of June and we will be concentrating on fund raising as we work on the plans for our future shelter and search for the perfect location. As you all know time is of the utmost importance as even with foster homes we are limited as to the animals we can save.

4/25/10  We will be out of our present location by May 1st . Most of our pets will be in temporary boarding until we have our foster home program up and running. Some pets will be going to other adoption facilities. We will  be establishing   a new  location for our office in Mazon, IL.  We will not be housing or accepting pets here.  We will keep our present P.O. Box 298 in Seneca for some time. Please watch the website for our new address and phone number. In the meantime, reaching us by email may be the best way to contact us as we begin our new journey of moving our mountain in a few short days. Our cats will be at Petsmarts in Yorkville and Oswego  seven days a week as usual and we will be in both stores with dogs and puppies on May 1st and 2nd   from 12:00-4:00. Come visit us there. Our Wellness Clinics will proceed as usual with no interruptions as we continue to search and save for the perfect place to call home for our future shelter.

4/19/10 Still no idea where we will call home.  No serious leads on a rental location or a place to call our own.  We still are looking and hoping.  Our adoptions are doing pretty good, and some of our special dogs have found wonderful forever homes and new pet parents.  Thank you. We can not take in any dogs or cats and that breaks our hearts - but we will find a new home this summer! We have to!!  By verbal agreement our lease will terminate on May 31st. Contact us if you have any location ideas in Eastern LaSalle or Western Grundy counties, the little animals need us.

4/10/10 Adoptions of our cats & dogs are going great!  So many dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are finding their forever homes. Such nice people out there!!!  Thank you all for helping as we don't know where we'll end up yet.  To all the Rescue Groups and Shelters who have reached out with adoptions or even just a phone call Thank You - it warms our hearts.  We are all in this 'rescue' world together.   We hope we can find a home.

4/9/2010 A great big shout out of Thanks to WCCQ, Roy Gregory & Katie too for broadcasting live from our little shelter last night.  I hope you all heard us!  We don't know how to express our gratitude enough on how thankful we are to WCCQ along with Carol McGowan - you guys are amazing!  To have us listed on your website and spend time with us, there are not enough words to say how greatful we are!  Good things are going to happen!
