Read "Follow Our Plight" page for our situation. We can no longer take in any animals - but will in the future - we will find a home!
UPDATE JULY 25, 2010!
This month with very heavy hearts the Board of Directors at Just Animals accepted the resignation of Jennie Applebee. With our recent move creating more of a travel distance and her ever increasing work load as a professional painter there is just no time to call her own. We cannot thank Jennie enough for her many years of dedication, loyalty and service. I don't think she knows how deeply she will be missed, by the staff, the volunteers and pets. Good Luck Jennie in all of your future endeavors. We are helping so many people and their pets at our Wellness Clinics here is a testimonial from one of our happy pet parents:
I just wanted to say thank you so much. I think what u guys are doing is so WONDERFUL. It's so hard to keep up with all the things our animals need because of the high cost. It's nice to know that help is there when times get hard. Now alot of people can feel good knowing they were able to get the shots their dogs need. Thank you Lil Laura
Our cat adoptions are doing very well at Petsmarts in Yorkville and Oswego. Please visit our critters at either location if you feel the need to expand your family. We really need your help though. We have some special kids, with lots of love to give that just need a special family to call their own. For these special kids we offer reduced adoption fees, full refunds for two weeks if it does not work out we will take them back and give you your money back. We will give you a bag of food, bowls, a leash.
Captain Morgan--- Our Beagle/Jack Russell mix boy. He has been looking for that special home for over two years. Would do great in an adult only home with dog experience and no cats. Once you get to know this boy he is nothing more than a marshmallow, lap loving couch potato who will not only steal your heart but also the covers in bed at night. 65.00 adoption fee
Illini AKA Buddy----I don't know what he is Collie X Akita X maybe you could adopt him, get a DNA test and let me know. He is very well trained, walks nice on a leash and would thrive in a home with no small children and dog experience. Adoption fee 65.00
Ruben----Our Walker Tree Hound, What a sweet boy he would love everyone in your family except the cat. He aspires to be a farm dog, looking for a nice porch to stretch out on and sun himself on, in return he will keep the coons away. Adoption fee 65.00
Special cats to come soon, if you can't wait call me.
Brenda Leake President/Director Just Animals Shelter
We would love a donation of land, a building in the correct zoning or even help to find our own property. At this time we do not have a home to move into at all. A rental would be great too! We can rent until we save enough to purchase. See Our Building Fund page, you can donate to that too. All donations are tax deductable.
We have been growing and doing so well, placing 475 dogs and cats in 2009 alone. All would have been euthanized without Just Animals. Now we can NO LONGER TAKE IN ANY ANIMALS. This means stray dogs and cats will meet an uncertain fate in our area! Our Wellness Clinics are helping so many people, we can't stop now.
We need to place our current dogs & cats at least into foster homes. Don't worry this will not stop Just Animals, just a hitch in our rescue for now. Please help. We can not let all the poor strays and lost souls be euthanized. We can find a new home and save so many with your help. But for now, we are so sad to say - there is no place for the little kitties and puppies
Roy Gregory, Carol McGowan and Katie too! How can we express how grateful we are to you and WCCQ - How amazing this world is when such good folks reach out to a little shelter in rural Illinois.
We are your biggest fans! Check out www.WCCQ.com and enjoy!
.
Donations can be mailed to our PO Box 275, MAZON IL 60444- all donations, land, buildings, monitary are all tax deductable. Please mark payment 'building fund'

The Little Shelter with a Big Heart
Just Animals is a no-kill, non-profit shelter run by our Director, Brenda Leake and a group of dedicated volunteers. All of our funding comes from donations and fundraisers. We take in hundreds of stray, abused, neglected, and owner surrendered animals every year. Our goal is to provide the best medical and emotional care to mend their broken bodies and spirits; and when they are ready, offer them for adoption to a safe, permanent, loving indoor home. All pets are vet checked, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, and dewormed. Cats are tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV, and dogs are Heartworm tested and either treated or put on preventative medication
We have been serving LaSalle County since 1997 and have saved thousands of cats and dogs from a sad uncertain ending. Won't you choose a local shelter for your next dog and cat, we all work together to improve their lives and find loving forever homes. We have placed 325 cats & dogs in 2008 alone. 2009 was a record year - 475 dogs, puppies, cats & kittens have found their way to their 'forever homes'. That's an amazing number!!!
Look at Petfinder.com for listings as well as on our Cat & Dog pages.
We are proud to be a PetSmart Partner, please visit us at their Yorkville & Oswego Locations to see more of kitties and join us at the adoption events, we'll be there with some of our wonderful dogs too.
